[translation] An Enthusiastic Night in Shinjuku Piccadilly ―The 606 Fans of Baahubali screamed, prayed, and sing.

Jai Maahishmathi!!

Hello, I am just a fan of 'Baahubali' and its world.

Today I would like to introduce an article written by another subject of Maahishmathi*1. Tunacan-san(@tunacan_note) is a big fan of Baahubali movies and he wrote the article with full of love. His sentences describe the high temperature of an event, that is called screaming style screening, cheering style screening, or Masara style screening in Japan.

Let's see it!

Hi everyone,

I know I always talk about Baahubali and it makes you get tired of.

However, I will show you a report about cheering style screening of Baahubali in Shinjuku, on 9th Feb 2018.

Well, in the middle of January 2018, I was afraid that the movie might finish showing because the release date of DVD and Blue-ray was already announced.
However, some theaters hold over showing and some theaters start to show it. This movie resurrected again and again. Its name is "Baahubali: The Conclusion".

This terrific epic makes audience enthusiastic and speechless. Every day it adds new people who call the name of their king, Baahubali. Shinjuku Piccadilly, the theater is now worshiped as a sacred where to watch Baahubali in cheering style screening. Whenever the style screening is organized, all the 606 seats are filled with enthusiastic people who praise their King of the Maahishmathi Kingdom.
The 3rd time cheering style screening event was announced on 29th January, it was really welcomed by fans.

When I heard that news, I was really touched and overjoyed as who have taken part in the style screening on 23rd January. At that day, the cold wave hit the Kanto region and it snowed terribly. However, I forgot the cold because of the high temperature of us. It could melts even snow.

So I couldn't wait to buy the ticket. I aimed to get the center seat of the nearest line to the screen. It is the very best position to look up my King. I waited the time the tickets will be sold with my hands trembling. 23:57, 58, 59, and the time had come.

I won.

I won the ticket, THANK GOD. My God knows my daily conduct!!!!
I got the very ticket as I had expected.

To be honest, when I got the ticket, I already drop a tear. I know you the kind people in Mahishmathi will not reveal my little shame like that. I convinced that all of my sufferings are given for making the joy more impressed. I was sure that I will come to a full appreciation of it.

A-18, it was my ticket number.

Finally, the day had come. 9th February, the lobby of Shinjuku Piccadilly was full filled with extraordinary euphoria mood. A King standy was put on a photo spot for Maahishmathi people.

I went to the lobby 1 hour before the movie starts. I took a photo with a sliding homage to the King - like Kattapa and felt so high. Also, I met people who I have met before in the last cheering style screening or in a cheering style screening in Kineka Omori theater. The movie is addictive as I have known.

I entered to screen 1 before 15mins. A scenery from my seat was superb. Bells were ringing in the screen*2

I cannot post photos of people, so please imagine the pressure and noise in the theater which was packed with 606 people. It is normal that a staff explains about rules of the screening, but it's not normal the volume of fans response. I thought that maybe my voice would be lost in their voice.

And then, I heard a thunderous cheer from my back. I swung my head back toward and find a woman was walking into the screen holding with Shiva lingam. *3

The woman walked to in front of the screen with the same style of Sivdu and cheered with everyone on the screen. We crapped our hands and showed our praise for her by calling "Baahubali"!! We witnessed the moment of starting Baahunali call before the event on its own. And surprisingly, the woman was not a staff but just a fan. All of us murmured excitedly. *4

In the buzzing noise atmosphere, the event started.

During a staff of V8Japan*5 delivered his opening address for the event and explained rules of it, we excited fans ring bells and tambourines and the screen filled with a yellow illumination of psylliums. The 606 people screamed thanks to TWIN *6 and Shinjuku Piccadilly. I felt even scared with the extraordinary volume of them to my back and thought how the event outstanding was!!

The screening has started.

No one can stop such enthusiastic people. During a digest of part 1(the link is below.) screening, every second which showed characters' face, people screamed their name. Especially when it showed Sivdu ― Mahendra Baahubali's face, fans cheered wildly. As I had expected, the 3rd cheering screening was more fast and furious than the previous one. I could not do anything but being felt overwhelmed.

And then, "Baahubali: The conclusion" started.

According to the staff, there were a few people who joined this style screening for the fisrt time and even have not watched the movie, but almost all of the audience were well-trained people of the Maahishmati Kingdom.

And the most dramatically evolved point is that we sing all of the songs in the movie. Of course "Sahore Baahubali" and also "Hamasa Naava" was singing by all of us. I felt the harmony between screenplay and audience. To be honest, I had worried if I could be only one  to sing songs, but it was totally pointless. I was sure that others also did self-training with a soundtrack and memorized lyrics as well as me.

We Maahishmathi people love the movie and screamed our love to the screen. No one insulted the movie and characters. Sometimes people talked about the story and dialogues with love. The People fully described their sympathy to the characters and even sworn to them as if they are their company just because they know well the amazing movie. On the scene of the coronation ceremony, a lot of people performed like soldiers in that plaza of Mahishmathi with waving their penlights and swords.

In addition to, in comedy parts, people laughed warmly. The second popular character was Kumara Varma. He was a coward in his entry, but we know that he changed himself into a genuine warrior with Amarendra Baahubali's inspiration. When he tried to tell how to use swords for Baahubali, quite a few people called his name, and when he celebrated Devasena's marriage with Baahubali, one of his fans said that "You know, it is a leopard!". It was so funny. However, finally he was defrauded and die, we all felt sad and regretted his death and called his name. I am sure that Kumara was the MVP.

And of course, at the death of Amarendra, we all got the choke up inside and no one exhaled any single word. I heard someone crying. Everyone felt profound sorrow at the death of our King. This contrast I witnessed in the other screening also, so I guess that no one can maintain their calm when they lost their King.

Then the movie approached the end of, the audience got exciting again and cheered extremely. In a sequence of Mahendra Baahubali fight against Bhallaradeva, it came beyond my imagination and I became speechless. We screamed "FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! " to the screen. It was increasing that our tension from the scene which Bhallaradeva looks Devasena through a telescope to the one which Bhallaradeva entry with his new chariot. And finally that Kattappapult*7 launch, it came to the extreme.
To feel the high temperature among others is the very true pleasure of the cheering style screening.

Then the movie ended with the coronation ceremony of Mahendra Baahubali. After that, we crapped our hands and I shouted "Baahubali!" to praise our King. To the second word I said, many people responded from all over the theater, finally, it sounded like the coronation ceremony in the movie.
Every time I can't stop crying in the final call because of it reminds me of the fun time and makes me a little bit sad.

It was my report what happened in Shinjuku Piccadilly at that night.
Thank you for your reading! I hope you feel there is such an enthusiastic atmosphere in Japan either.

Now the number of theaters showing cheering style screening of "Baaahubali: The conclusion" is still increasing.

Sahore Baahubali!
